State-of-the-Art Campus

UMHS has one of the most modern campuses in the Caribbean. It was modeled after U.S. medical schools, and is comparable in virtually every way — from the cutting-edge anatomy and human simulation labs to the robust library and learning resource center. Equipped with the latest technology, the campus provides an outstanding learning environment for future doctors.

World-Class Academics

UMHS is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education through the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation. ACCM has adopted U.S. standards of accreditation both as written and applied. This is one of the highest standards of accreditation an offshore medical school can obtain.

Affiliated Hospitals

Through our relationships, we are able to connect you with highly valuable training experiences with top physicians. UMHS is affiliated with 19 teaching hospitals throughout the US, Puerto Rico and Canada. You will also have the option to take electives and make connections at additional hospitals throughout Canada.

CANADIAN HOSPITAL CONNECTIONS

We can help you earn clinical rotations and take electives in the region of your choice.

UMHS is currently affiliated with Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Ontario, Canada, along with 19 teaching hospitals throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. We are continuing to expand our affiliations, and we also offer ample opportunities for our students to take electives at non-affiliated hospitals throughout Canada. Here are just a few of the facilities that our students have earned elective rotations:

  • Hamilton General Hospital (Hamilton)
  • McGill University Health Centre (Montreal)
  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Charlottetown)
  • Ross Memorial Hospital (Lindsay)
  • University Health Network (Toronto)

MEET A UMHS GRAD

“UMHS provided an avenue for me to fulfill my career goal of becoming a practicing physician in Canada. I was drawn to the smaller class sizes, favorable island living conditions in St. Kitts, new facilities, and the promising hospital affiliations, including the opportunity to complete a third-year core rotation in Canada.”

—Dr. Rohan Manocha, Class of ’17
With support from UMHS, Toronto-area native Dr. Manocha recently earned a Family Medicine residency at University of Toronto – Downtown.

Personalized Medical Education

We are committed to delivering the support you need to become a successful doctor. Thanks to our small class sizes and low student-to-faculty ratio of 8:1, you’ll have ample opportunities to work one-on-one with our experienced, highly-credentialed faculty.

Exceptional Residency Placements

Our graduates have obtained premier residency positions in Canada at institutions such as University of British Columbia, Vancouver Island; University of Manitoba; University of Toronto and more. Also, nearly 120 of our students matched with their program of choice in our 2018 graduating class alone.

Affordable Tuition

UMHS offers a considerably affordable tuition compared to other foreign medical schools in the Caribbean and Australia. To fund their education, qualifying Canadian students are able to gain a line of credit for up to $250,000 from most major Canadian banks.
